I truly believe that in order to become a great painter, you first need to become a bad painter... but of course this is my own personal view on the matter.

Lack of sales? Well...i say this to you all. The lack of sales doesn't mean your art is NOT GOOD. I didn't sell any work for the first 15 years of painting. I never gave up. The thought never, ever crossed my mind. The obvious reason is of course the fact that i love painting. I paint because i love creating. I don't do it for money or fame. That just came unexpectedly to me personally. I've been lucky enough to be able to make a living of my art. One of the reasons is that I've stayed true to my self and my work. Never tried to impress anyone. Anyway...The key to being recognised for your art and making sales as an artist, is persistence.... A lot of it. Believing in yourself and your work. So just keep going and create art to impress yourself above all.
The only one reason i don't like to be compared with Basquiat is simple: everyone that sees a cartoon like, abstract painter, or painting, almost always say: "looks like Basquiat...." That's like saying that Basquiat looks like De Kooning . Or say De kooning looks like Picasso. It's different , very fucking different. Sometimes i feel that people only use Basquiat as an example because that's the only artist they know. But hey!... There were artists doing it before Basquiat , so that you know people. He didn't invent any-fucking-thing. Not saying i don't like him. i am just saying learn a bit about art history that's all.
I don't think my work looks like Basquiat at all. Some people like more the works i created 15 years ago, others like the newer works, and so on... I am ok with that. But i make art for myself. Thank you very much!!! So, not gonna change for no fucking one. And trust me i am asked many times to create older works. Or to create specific art. But if i would just change my art just because someone asked me to do so... i would be changing myself. Also why would anyone want to buy art from an artist that creates art that someone else wants you to create? crazy shit! Right???
I mean the reason you buy art is because you are buying a piece of the artist, the person...right? You are buying honesty and personal feelings. Experiences. if not, just paint the fucking picture yourself. makes more since...asking someone to create art that you imagine is pointless! Unless is decorative pieces. But i don't consider that ART. More like ARTless I have way more compliments than complaints, but theres always the odd asshole here and there who can't take criticism or even an opinion. When it comes to art, everything should be allowed. You can debate about it. of course. But art should never be discredited, or ignored just because one doesn't understand it. Ever. No matter the content. Any really. Because that's the beauty of art, that's what makes art so special...well, to me at least.
"Many artists use a variety of complicated philosophical words and frases to describe their work. So for any of you reading this, i hope you don't mind if i just cut through the fucking crap, and i'll be who i am. A rather simple and straight to the point guy. Unafraid of what others may think of me or my art."
Simply put...I paint what i see. Things that revolt me. Shit that pisses me off. Things i wish i could change. Everyday situations that are filtered onto wood, canvas, cardboard or any materials i may find useful to paint on. But mostly my work is about honesty. And you can't contain your feelings or be afraid of what others may think if you want to be totally open and honest. To me, true art is the art that is straight in your face and fully open to any kind of criticism. I don't let ego or creticism get between me or my work. Why should i? Fuck that bitch! Some people have a diary where they keep all their thoughts and feelings locked and hidden away. You can say that my work is also like a diary, only i use visuals instead of just pen and paper. And i don't lock those thoughts away. I show them to the world. Any subject can turn into a piece of art. A painting, a sculpture, depending of how i feel on any given day. Though in most cases my work is extremely personal, even if not obvious at first glance. I am not trying to please anyone with my work but myself. And i couldn't care less what anyone fucking thinks about it. As an artist, i feel that there are no rules or barriers that can't be crossed. if those exist in the art world, i sure break them all, every single time. but not necessarily, intentional. I break rules because i'm always shearching for answers. Art gives you that sometimes. An answer. A sense of inner peace. A sense of purpose. There's nothing better than getting a coffee ready... while surrounded by art. Put on some good music, feel the smell of paint, and start creating art. I am beyond blessed that i can do this for a living.
I was never afraid to express my feelings. And much less so when it comes to my art, or any art for that matter. I am fearless. Totally! Because art gives me that freedom. The freedom to say anything. And somehow feel free and protected. That's how powerful art is...
One thing i personally notice more often than not... Is that artists are trying to hard at what they do. At the art they create. Trying too hard to be perfect. Adding too much beauty into their work. Too much thinking going on. Trying too hard to please others. And way too many clones. Of course this is just my opinion, it is not an attack on anyone. So leave the fucking offended thing on the side, please. I think that art, it is not meant to be beautiful, in the sense of beauty. Like pretty. Art must be just art. You have something to say, and you just say it. But with visuals. When i paint i never, ever think about what i am doing. About what colours i am gonna use. I'd hate that if i did so... As i am creating a work i rarely think of what i am doing at all. I really don't think, of lines, shapes, colours, nothing. To me it is all about the message i am trying to convey. And i just let it happen naturally.
I just love it when scammers are trying to cheat artists into buying their work, (with no intention to pay of course). But sometimes, they don't expect you to know their game, and what they're up to. The one thing i always say, and they are out as fast as they started the whole thing. Is this: "ASSHOLE I'VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR A LONG FUCKING TIME." And i say no more.Iit works every time. Fucking assholes they think everyone is stupid. Good fun!!! ;)
